Delegation from Kenya Visits Municipality of Kincardine to Learn
about Hosting a Nuclear Community
KINCARDINE, ON – The Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce and the
Municipality of Kincardine welcomed a delegation from Kenya on Friday, June 5, 2026,
as part of an international knowledge-sharing visit focused on nuclear energy and
community development.
The delegation, comprised of government and industry representatives, travelled to the
region to learn about Bruce Power and gain firsthand insight into the experiences of
local municipalities and businesses that support one of the world’s largest operating
nuclear generating facilities. The visit included a tour of the Bruce Power site on
Thursday, followed by a community tour and discussions with Chamber of Commerce
and municipal representatives on Friday.
As Kenya advances its nuclear energy program, delegates were particularly interested
in understanding the broader community impacts of hosting a nuclear facility.
Discussions focused on how nuclear energy can support local economic development,
workforce growth, housing, infrastructure investment, small business success, and long-
term community prosperity.
“It is exciting to welcome visitors from around the world to learn about the positive
impact the nuclear industry has had on our community and local businesses” said Jaye
Boyer, President of the Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce and owner of
Harbour Rose Boutique. “Kincardine has built a strong and vibrant community alongside
Bruce Power, and we are proud to share our experiences with others exploring a
nuclear future.”
Mayor Craig noted that Kincardine’s experience is attracting increasing international
attention.
“As interest in nuclear energy and energy-intensive industries continues to grow around
the world, communities are looking for real-world examples of how to successfully host
and benefit from these major investments,” said Craig. “The Municipality of Kincardine
has decades of experience working alongside Bruce Power, and we are proud to share
the lessons we’ve learned about economic growth, community development, and
building strong partnerships.”
The visit reflects the growing global interest in nuclear energy as countries seek reliable,
low-carbon sources of electricity and highlights the important role host communities play
in supporting the success of large-scale energy projects.
